1. What is a "missed connection"?

Good question. Missed connections happen all the time and can take place if you and another person have already met, or even if you simply caught a glimpse of someone from afar. Maybe you chatted with somebody at the market but never got their email address. Or you exchanged glances across a crowded bar but were too shy to approach. Or you saw the person of your dreams while riding the morning bus. Each would be a missed connection, and Kizmeet is the place to try to (re)connect.

2. What does it cost to use Kizmeet?

Not a single penny. You can post and search your missed connections for free, so go ahead and use the site to your heart’s content!

3. Will Kizmeet keep me anonymous?

Absolutely. Your name and email address will be kept private when you post a new missed connection. And you don’t need to register to search the site.

If you reply to a posting, your email address will be visible only to the person to whose posting you are responding, and it’s up to you whether you want to give out your name. (If your name is part of your email address and you don’t feel comfortable sharing it, you may want to set up a separate email account with a nickname, initials or other anonymous identity.)

4. Kizmeet isn't in my city yet. What can I do to add it to the list?

Kizmeet is growing every day, with more cities soon to come. You can suggest a city to add by sending us a note at www.kizmeet.com/docs/contact-us.html.

5. How do I post and search for bars (or clubs or coffee shops) not already listed on Kizmeet?

Easy: If you’re posting, just type the location’s name under “Other,” and it will automatically become a searchable keyword for your posting. And if you’re searching, type the location in the search box and all matches for that location should come up.

We regularly update our venue lists with your suggestions and to keep up with the trends, so check back with us to see what’s popular next.

6. Of the 4 million Starbucks in my city, how do I know I'm searching the right one for my missed connection?

If you’re searching missed connections at a venue with multiple locations, you’ll be able to see every posting for all of the locations. So whether you were at the Starbucks downtown or the one on the westside, you can either click on the Starbucks category (under Coffee Shops) or just type “Starbucks” and scroll through the listings. You can also use the optional neighborhood field or the search bar to narrow the postings.

7. Where do I post missed connections that happen at places that don't quite fit into Kizmeet's 8 main categories?

If our main categories don’t describe the location of your missed connection (e.g., the car wash or church), post it under Miscellaneous. This category also works to reconnect with long-lost friends.

8. What if my missed connection could fall under two different categories?

Say your missed connection happened while at a food stand in the park. Does this fall under "Bars, Clubs & Dining" or "Outdoors"?  There's no correct answer here, except to use your best judgment.  If you're searching, be sure to look in both categories, or use the search bar or encounter date filter to narrow your search results.  If you're posting, be descriptive and include the name of the location.  Or you can create two postings and put them in both categories.  If you want to find each other, we're sure you'll find a way!

9. What's the difference between the "encounter date" and the "posting date"?

You saw your missed connection last Saturday night (encounter date), but he didn’t create a posting until Monday morning (posting date). You may find it easier to search by encounter date since it won’t matter when the other person created the posting. If you view by posting date, you’ll see all the postings in the order in which they were published on the site.

10. How will Kizmeet use my email address?

We do not sell email lists. We do not spam. We promise.

We will email you to let you know that your posting has been published. And when you reply to a posting, the original poster will be able to see your email address. (This is just to facilitate the connection, and to let the poster know how to get back in touch.)

11. Why does Kizmeet ask for my birthday?

Kizmeet is a community for people ages 18 and over. You are responsible for accurately representing your age to us. If you’re under 18, you may not use this site. Your age will never appear on the site, and Kizmeet will never sell your information.

12. What should I do if I see an inappropriate posting?

Kizmeet regularly checks postings for inappropriate or lewd language. But, like many online communities, we also rely on our users to flag offensive postings, and we’ll do our best to remove them as quickly as possible.

13. Can Kizmeet also work for missed "networking" connections, if I forgot to get someone's business card?

Sure, why not?

14. How long will postings remain on the site?

A few months. But you can decide to delete your posting yourself whenever you’d like.
